Thousands of people chanted slogans against President Traian Basescu and the country’s government members, at the seventh day of protest in Union Square, Bucharest, Romania. At around 22.45 a conflict broke out between a few demonstrators and some of the police forces, the police were attacked with stones, fences and bottles. At least 40 young people have been arrested, and four members of police forces are accused of unjustified hitting and inappropriate intervention against protesters.
Sunday, January 15, on the third day of protest in Bucharest, Romania, violent protesters were out of control; they destroyed many goods/stores and clashed with the police forces. By the end of the day, 283 people were arrested. People are asking for a more responsible political class and a change of government. They also demand for the President Traian Basescu to resign and want new elections. Each day the number of protesters increases in the Union Square from Bucharest, and more cities are joining the cause. The protest still goes on, today is the sixth day of the people street demands.
